Standard Penetration Tester (SPT)

The Standard Penetration test (SPT) is a common in situ testing method used to determine the geotechnical engineering properties of subsurface soils.

It is a simple and inexpensive test to estimate the relative density of soils and approximate shear strength parameters.

SPT probing is done through driving a cylindrical sampling tube for a ca. 0,5 m at the bottom of a borehole. The penetration energy is supplied bt a 63,5 kg hammer which drops in continuous cycle from a height of 0,76 m to investigate cohesive and non-cohesive soils.

Construction: the main part of the cylindrical penetrometer is a rod hammering machine comprising: 63,5 kg hammer, anvil and hammer guide rod with automatic realease mechanism anaibling free fall down.
Accessories:

- Rods
 -Cylinder-made of two halfs
 -Curring tool
•Adapter: cylinder / rod
