Manual water sounding device

Use the sounding device to determine the groundwater level in the auger hole. Allow it to drop down with some speed. As soon as it has reached the groundwater surface level a “plop” sound will be heard. The depth of the groundwater surface is important when it comes to selecting the right type of auger. Note that the water level in the bore hole takes a while to reach the same level as the actual groundwater level (depending on the type of soil).
